When the church engages in holistic mission for the flourishing of neighborhoods within the city, we can expect to see average life expectancy increase.
Life expectancy at large can be a helpful tool to gauge the general health of a community. There are a combination of factors that influence whether or not an individual reaches old age including personal genetics, lifestyle and community factors. As a community there are related issues that can affect specific pockets of the population. These include, but are not limited to, poverty, access to healthcare, food insecurity and access to healthy food. Where people live has a noticeable outcome on life expectancy, with life expectancy ranging from 69.2 to 88.7 depending on census tract. Finding ways to improve a specific, local area, with greater safety, access to transportation, healthy food, jobs, and even parks and green spaces has been shown to help affect an increase in life expectancy.
