Immigrants & Refugees

Key Metric

Foreign Born
Foreign-born (11.4%)
Native-born (88.6%)

The rapid rise of immigrants and refugees in our city presents the church of Greater Charlotte with a unique opportunity to live out our Biblical call to love and welcome foreigners.

Whether leaving your native country by choice or fleeing because of tragedy, finding your way in a new city can be difficult. Over the years Charlotte has seen an increase in both immigrants and refugees relocating to the city, with one in six people in the Charlotte metro area were born outside of the United States and contribute to the rich diversity of our city. Connecting to a community remains an important part of successfully integrating and flourishing in a new home. Serving a multitude of languages and cultures creates ways for these new arrivals to begin to navigate a new life. Overall, these individuals tend to move into the city at a greater rate than the surrounding areas.
